I'm Sarah Beaulieu

Couples Therapy Sarah _edited_edited.jpg

As your therapist, I serve as both a guide and companion on your journey. Through our time together, you will learn to trust your intuition, acquire effective and valuable tools for emotional self-management, develop respectful tolerance and loving acceptance for yourself and your loved ones, and enhance the strengths you already have.

The source of your anxiety or pain may come from institutional abuse, childhood trauma, family or social dynamics, work pressures, partner relationships, or a specific incident occurring in your life right now. My intention is for you to feel safety in your nervous system and rebuild your sense of self-trust. I look forward to having honest conversations about your past and present life experiences so you may confidently create a joyful, rewarding, and fulfilling future as a result of our time together.

I support non-traditional relationship structures and am LGBQT+,
Kink & BDSM affirming (although you don’t have to identify with those).
I aim to bring a social justice & trauma-informed perspective to our sessions.

THERAPY USING A SYSTEMS & CYBERNETIC PSYCHOLOGY LENS

I am not your standard observational therapist. You can expect humor, warmth, and connection in our sessions together. I am a whitaker-ian at heart: Whitaker advocated a spontaneous and evocative presence with people in therapy to engage them at the hidden symbolic dimensions of awareness. I will find what moves you, what you connect with, I will challenge you, and I am very much part of the room to guide and provide more self-understanding.

As a systems psychotherapist, I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Intergenerational Attachment Theories (Bowen, Bowlby, Whitaker, and Sue Johnson). We will gently explore the different parts of you and your life that have affected you: your home, your relationships, your upbringing & school experiences, religion, identity, race, trauma & safety.

I intuitively lead and encourage you in your story to re-identify with your sense of self-trust. I am strength-based and trust that we will find the parts of you that want to change. We will explore how you try to change your beliefs, where you feel stuck, and what parts of your life you feel you cannot change.
I work well with people who are curious about themselves, can acknowledge how they participate in problematic patterns & are willing to take a chance toward change.

Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.
